Is it a Sheep or a Wolf? How to Protect Yourself.
When someone sets out to deceive, they can portray themselves as the greatest person on the planet yet be a walking talking wolf in sheep’s clothing. Wolves can be male or female. They can be the most beautiful and kind sheep you’ve ever seen…. in the beginning.
I’ve wondered many times in my life why a wolf would be so intentionally sneaky, cruel and dishonest. The reason that stands out to me the most is, because they can. In today’s society, millions of targets are available with a simple text. No strings attached. Wolves don’t even have to buy dinner anymore or do anything nice for a free conquer.
So the wolves with the intention to deceive can lie and get away with whatever they want too, simply because they can. Wolves lives are easier than ever before. It really doesn’t take much for a young wolf to quickly feel entitled. From a wolf’s viewpoint it really doesn’t matter if your values are good or bad when it comes to achieving the conquer. If entitlement is at play, either set of values will lose when dealing with a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Their sole goal is to conquer, destroy and discard. The wolf will prowl around wherever they can find prey in good places like church and not so good places like bars. They have no problem going to good places to find those empathetic hearts to destroy. So it’s important for the empathetic people to remember that just because you meet someone in a good place does not mean they are good. You may very well be staring into the eyes of a wolf.
The wolves have figured out they can conquer their prey emotionally and physically with little effort. Wolves have learned that a few compliments will get them anything they want if their prey doesn’t know their worth or isn’t discerning the predatory behaviors of the wolf in the first few months of knowing them. A wolf will typically show their prey if they are a wolf or a sheep in the first 90 days of knowing them….IF the prey is paying attention. That said, wolves are stealthy and can keep their sheep costume on for up to a year before the fangs come out. Wolves by nature are hunters. If the hunt and conquer are too easy, then a wolf will simply conquer and toss the prey aside and go on to the next prey. They really have no problem waiting for the harder conquer because a wolf always has other prey in site should the hunt of one take too long.
My point is this, if the prey continually plays the game and/or ignores the signs of imminent danger, it’s hardly fair to cry wolf. Sadly, a large part of our society, the wolves and the prey have all been conditioned to believe that the conquer is just another past time, “a hookup”, a way to fill holes in their heart, a way to numb out or a way to make love happen fast and easy.
The only way to stop the wolf dead in it’s tracks is to stop dancing with it.. The way to stop dancing with it is to know your value and what your truth is. Know who God created you to be and raise your standards. Pay attention to actions versus words and be discerning. If you are mistreated or disrespected you must choose not to allow that behavior in your life by letting the person know this behavior isn’t an option and moving on quickly if it is ignored. If it is ignored, you are very likely dealing with a wolf.
So my questions for you are: What has been your experience with wolves? When have you been the prey and when have you been the wolf? What are your feelings about the conquer and where are you now? Why? If you need help finding your value, your truth or learning how to be discerning, shoot me a text or email. You are not alone. I am here to help.
